A hatch with a touch of subtle glamour, the A3 is superbly built, and has safety engineering second to none.
Expensive and confined in the rear.
Consider it as a classy, practical coupe (even the five-door), and you won't be disappointed. Don't consider it as an expensive Golf - it's too cramped.
A high quality cabin makes the A3 good to sit in, and comfortable seats and adjustable steering wheel help. It's pretty quiet too, although the ride is more disturbed than it should be for the money. It's fine up front, but a threesome in the rear will not enjoy it. Luggage space is a little tight too, but there's plenty of room for detritus inside. A quality system, complete with the RDS traffic information facility, is standard. It's fairly easy to use.
