Category: Exotic Sports 4 out of 5

Summary of the Aston Martin DBS (2007-)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Sounds magnificent, goes like it sounds, corners with verve, looks menacing, beautifully made.

Drawbacks

Feels big, handling too floaty or ride too rigid with no half-measures.

Verdict

Britain's answer to the Ferrari 599.

Aston Martin DBS Review

Reliability and Quality4 out of 5

From the outside the DBS looks as though carved from a solid piece of aluminium, even though much of what you see is perfectly executed carbon fibre with exact gaps and no sign of the weave beneath the paint. Inside, everything is what it looks like it is, with no plastic fake aluminium. This is an object of automotive art, with its polished or milled aluminium surfaces and even a ground-glass ashtray. Under the bonnet the view is similarly inspiring and beautifully finished, and unlike a Ferrari's an Aston's chassis structure is just as well finished even in the parts you can't see.

So why not five stars? The test cars' steering columns shook over some road surfaces, and one car spontaneously stopped - twice in our hands - when slowing to walking pace at junctions.
