Alfa Romeo Mito 1.6 JTDm (2009-) Review

Category: Superminis 4 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.6 JTDm (2009-)

Price Range: £11,595 to £15,795

Assets

Unique looks, smooth engine, Q2 e-diff's added traction.

Drawbacks

Relatively high CO2 emissions, poor steering, limited rear space, possible build issues.

Verdict

A decent 'alternative' choice and, at present, it is the most competitive car in Alfa's line-up. It's worthy of consideration.

Alfa Romeo MiTo Review

Running Costs3 out of 5

The 118bhp 1.6 diesel Mito averages 58.9mpg, which is impressive, but nowhere near as impressive as the Mini Cooper D's 72.4mpg combined fuel consumption.

Compounding its error yet further, the Mito averages 126g/km of CO2 meaning it slips into the VED Band C, not the cheaper Band B that's par for the class. Forthcoming stop/start and a package of environmental measures may well fix that, however.
