Unique looks, smooth engine, Q2 e-diff's added traction.
Relatively high CO2 emissions, poor steering, limited rear space, possible build issues.
A decent 'alternative' choice and, at present, it is the most competitive car in Alfa's line-up. It's worthy of consideration.

Alfa is seriously struggling to shift cars at the moment and 2008 saw a devastating 19% drop in sales. Instead of rolling out another droptop, or giving the 159 four-door more performance, the Italian company went back to its roots and tried to recapture what it used to do best - make sporty, small affordable cars. The Mito, on the face of it, does the job perfectly and some might say it is the spiritual heir to the Alfasud of the 70s.
For the UK there's the choice of three 1.4-litre petrol engines: a 94bhp naturally-aspirated and 118bhp and 153bhp turbocharged units. There are two turbocharged diesels: a 89bhp 1.3-litre and this, the 118bhp 1.6-litre.
For those who venture out of the city and rack up the miles the 1.6 diesel could be the most desirable in the Mito range with its fine 58.9mpg average fuel consumption, punchy performance, masses of kit and shrunken 8C Competizione looks.
Still want that Mini, though? Find out if we think the diesel is the hottest Alfa in the Mito range.
