Alfa Romeo 156 (1997-2002) Review

Category: Compact Executive 3 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo 156 (1997-2002)

Price Range: £28,545 to £28,545

Assets

Styling, performance, driving enjoyment, practicality and, above all, character; now very cheap second-hand buys.

Drawbacks

Slightly cramped in the rear, the dealer network is not the best, poor reliability record.

Verdict

Great to look at and great to drive, it makes a refreshing alternative to a BMW or an Audi, if not the most sensible option.

Alfa Romeo 156 Review

Safety and Security3 out of 5

There is an alarm and immobiliser, but there are no deadlocks. The 156 has not been crash tested to NCAP standards; Fiat Group cars (of which the Alfa is one) previously tested usually score no better than average.
