Alfa Romeo 156 (2003-2006) Review

Category: Large Family 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo 156 (2003-2006)

Price Range: £28,545 to £28,545

Assets

Good engines, keen steering and handling, great to look at

Drawbacks

Repair costs, reliability, slightly awkward driving position, interior glitches - and the 159, which promises to be a much better ownership proposition.

Verdict

Great to look at and good to drive, but the same old head versus heart issues persist.

Alfa Romeo 156 Review

Used Value3 out of 5

At the right price, and with the bulk of its depreciation (loss in value) behind it already, a well cared-for 156 can make a great second-hand purchase. Make sure you get a service history, though, and seek advice from fellow owners (the internet's a good place to start looking). It's also worth sourcing a good service agent before you do the deal. Find a good 156, and look after it, and you've got one of the most intoxicating and desirable family cars ever made.

It's all style over content I'm afraid. If you can put up with the constant repairs and little tweak...
