Characterful styling, peppy engines, fun to drive, lots of equipment, holds value well.
Jiggly ride, high servicing and insurance costs, build quality not the best.
Tempting, like alcohol, but there's the hangover to consider. A car for the more enthusiastic driver.

A few may find the Alfa's lofty driving position a little off-putting and most will be irritated by the poor turning circle. The stalk controls are fiddly too. But in other respects, the 145 is easy to drive thanks to good visibility, power steering and an obedient gearchange. The fizzing enthusiasm of its engines, which have more get-up-and-go than a breakfast DJ, make up for a lot. Quick-acting steering (1.8 only) suits the 145's sporty character too, making it an entertainer on the right roads.
Many would say the 145's engines are its best feature. An enthusiastic engine note and strong performance from both 1.6 and 1.8 note heighten the appeal, especially since they are subdued when cruising.
