Both models are fitted with twin front and side airbags as well as anti-lock brakes, while the more powerful cars get the added benefit of traction control to rein in the urge of the 240bhp engine. There are no flip-up bars to protect the Spider's occupants in the event of a roll over, however, and its age means that it's not going to offer the impact protection that younger rivals do. That said, the brakes and suspension on the V6 model have both been beefed up to handle the car's power.
