Alfa Romeo GTV and Spider (2003 - 2006) Review

Category: Affordable Sports 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo GTV and Spider (2003 - 2006)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Style and panache by the bucket-load, fabulous engines, particularly the V6

Drawbacks

Showing its age, chassis taxed by engines, build quality, cramped cabin, scuttle-shake in Spider

Verdict

A buying decision made by the heart not the brain. You may not consider one yourself, but would understand those that did

Review

Reliability and Quality3 out of 5

Hardly an Alfa strong point, but the GTV and Spider are not the reliability nightmares you'd think them to be. Minor electrical glitches and the odd bit of errant trim are the biggest and most regular problems you're like to encounter. Both cars are built by Pininfarina, the Italian design house that originally styled the models eight years ago. While the dash looks stylish with its cowled instrument binnacle and trio of dials angled towards the driver, a closer inspection reveals brittle plastics, inconsistent panel gaps and a rather slapdash feel to the cabin's construction as a whole.
