Category: Affordable Sports 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo GTV and Spider (2003 - 2006)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Style and panache by the bucket-load, fabulous engines, particularly the V6

Drawbacks

Showing its age, chassis taxed by engines, build quality, cramped cabin, scuttle-shake in Spider

Verdict

A buying decision made by the heart not the brain. You may not consider one yourself, but would understand those that did

Review

Overview2.5 out of 5

Alfa's GTV coupe and Spider duo were originally launched mid-1995, and have since been replaced by the GT, Brera and new-generation Spider. They're still looking good, however, helped by a minor cosmetic makeover in 2003 which included some changes to the engine line-up as well as a 147-like nose and fresh alloy wheels.

The more technically-advanced 2.0-litre JTS petrol engine joined the 2.0 Twin Spark, and the magnificent 3.2 V6 (as in the 147/156 GTA) replaced the 3.0 V6. The chassis felt its age, the cabin cramped and dated - yet the GTV and Spider remain desirable.
