Alfa Romeo GTV (1996-2003) Review

Category: Affordable Sports 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo GTV (1996-2003)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Styling is unmistakably an Alfa: bold and confident. Superb choice of engines. Legendary badge.

Drawbacks

Cheaper alternatives; dubious reliability; tiny rear seat and near- hopeless boot.

Verdict

Fabulous to look at and drive, and relatively easy to own (for an Alfa). A true Italian coupe.

Review

Reliability and Quality3 out of 5

The GTV has been reasonably trustworthy (by traditional Alfa standards) though it has suffered many minor build quality niggles, electrical problems and issues such as worn or faulty rear suspension and dodgy wheel rims. Alfa also now recommends that timing belts and tensioners are changed every 36,000 miles rather than every 72,000 - check that this has been observed, and find a friendly local independent Alfa specialist.
