I would love to have hated this car. Needed a new head gasket, numerous electrical faults, the world's worst dealership... I could go on. The thing is it's great to drive and look at.
There is soul in this engine. It revs easily and the engine note is so sweet.
I've had this car for 6 months now and it's been trouble free so far. It's undoubtedly a great drive and a pleasure to be in its gadget enriched cabin! Pity the reputation doesn't improve, give Alfa a fair rating they are not what you hear, I've had VWs and Audis previously and quality wise the 147 is well up to German standards. I'm extremely satisfied so far...
Bought March 2006 and covered some 4,400 miles to date. Small niggle with Ipod player, fitted by dealership, which is yet to be resolved, but full marks for the car itself. Great looking with good road manners and plenty of power through the 1.9 diesel. Terrific Interior in full leather trim guise and space for luggage and passengers is good considering the overall dimensions. Five out of five for a manufacturer who easilly has the best looking and most exciting range of cars on offer.
My sister has this car and is pleased with it. It has good peformance and a very unique look, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I like its styling anyway. Inside it has comfy leather seats. Reliability wise she has had no problems at all since the car was bought about a year ago. There is plenty of space inside - legroom is great in the back as you would expect in a car of this size. Looking for a stylish, good value car you could do far worse than a 147. Honestly!!
