This is the second Zafira I have had. The last one I had was a 1.8 automatic, which was great. But the new one is an easytronic. If you drive in automatic the gear changes as if it has a mind of its own, it changes too late and makes the engine race. If you drive in manuel it's ok. I would prefer that it went back to a proper automatic. They could also do with more soundproofing to cut down road noise.
I purchased this car in July 2006 after owning an early five-seat Corolla Verso and I'm very impressed by the Zafira. The whole car has a very solid well screwed together feel. The only problem I've had were faulty front suspension bushes on delivery, although these were replaced by the dealer. The Zafira is more refined than the Verso, particularly as regards to engine noise. Petrol consumption is average and the 1.6 engine, whilst not the fastest, is willing and smooth. An excellent all-round family car.
