Ignore the points in the 4Car review about the car having uninspiring handling and more thrills than frills - it simply isn't true. Handling as standard is really good, not too much body roll in corners. Steering isn't light and lifeless as in normal Polos, you get a good feel of the road and it has decent weighting to it. The only negative thing about the car are the brakes, which are useless. Spec wise, no supermini in its class beats it when it was launched. Great fun to drive and very nippy!
Dodgy handling, but fun to drive! My 1996 Polo has a rubbish top speed, but who cares? Its acceleration is pretty good. The handling on a Ford Focus is sublime, but it's boring to drive; whereas the Polo is the opposite: fun to drive and the handling makes you think you're going to kill yourself in this car! I love it. People have been moaning at the reliability of the Polo but, after 2 years *touch wood* I've never had a problem with it.
