A stunning vehicle with a gearbox that has to be experienced to be believed. This car does it all. It's a practical hatchback with loads of luggage space, comfortably seating four adults in luxurious surroundings. The engine is wonderful with bags of power when you need it, but quiet and refined at other times. After six months of ownership I can honestly say that I'm hugely impressed. The performance is superb: the 2.0 turbo gives all the power you are likely to need but the power delivery is smooth rather than being snappy and aggressive. The handling is always sure-footed: you always know where the limit is thanks to the communicative steering and chassis. Good mpg for a GTI - I average 32. Big boot too. It's every car you'd ever need in one: sportscar, practical family hatchback, runabout, cruiser.
