As a package the Grand Punto has lots going for it: sharp looks, roomy, well equipped and good value. Drives nicely but 8V 1.4 petrol is a bit gutless - it has to be revved (in traditional small Fiat style) to make even modest progress. That kind of driving style hits economy. Interior a bit cheap feeling, but to be expected at this price. Voice-controlled bluetooth phone and mp3 connection a nice standard feature. Get a nearly new one from a car supermarket as I did and there's little to touch it for the money.
The Fiat Punto is the most comfortable and smooth-driving car out there. Great comfort inside and it's cheap to run on petrol. Lots of storage space considering it is a Punto. Overall a lovely car and I would recommend it to anyone.
Having owned a first generation Punto, I was aware that the common view of 'Fiat' standing as an acronym for 'Fix It Again Tomorrow' was all too truthful. But I thought I'd give Fiat a chance, and sample its new found quality. Unfortunately, numerous niggles and dealer visits (and the most ridiculous cupholders ever - I am yet to find a drink that fits) have detracted from what is otherwise a decent car. Gorgeous and good to drive it may be, but my confidence in Fiat has been lost altogther.
