I recently test drove the new BMW M3 on the Nurburgring. As with most BMWs it look like a bland everyday car - until you drive it. Wow, what a car! The speed is mind-blowing. Considering you are in a four seat coupe, it can be thrown around like a proper sports car and unless you take off the electronic wizardry it is willing to forgive the lesser driver. I prefer Mercedes but after driving this M3 I am now not so sure. Again, wow!
I know I may be a little biased owning one, but the new SLK350(with the exception of carrying a family)is almost everything anyone could want from a car. In Comfort mode it drives like the luxury badge it represents - elegant, smooth and relaxing, ready to do anything you ask of it. Then put it in Manual or Sport mode and it becomes the ferocious, beautiful sports convertible/coupe it looks. With the luxuries of heated seats/steering/airscarf/anti glare mirrors etc and just to top it off capable of 38mpg.
This is most complete car I have ever been in or driven. Selecting Comfort mode it drives as smothly as any luxry car & then select Standard mode and it becomes an outright performance car with snappy thottle response etc. Also having the Airscarf - Heated seats/steering wheel it is a joy even when you 1st get in the car, it takes approx 2 mins and you are comfortable and ready to tackle anything basically you do not need gloves & coat. Just to top it off the fuel consumption is great 32mpg .
This is the most complete car I have ever driven, some maybe a bit faster or cheaper etc, but what ever you want from this car - it gives you. Put it in comfort mode and the drive is like a luxury saloon (with a phenominal kick down), then try the standard mode and it becomes the brute sports car it was designed to be. The way it adapts to your style of driving takes a little getting used to, but once you are it will do what ever you ask of it at any speed. Oh and it looks absolutley stunning.
