Test-drove an A6 diesel alongside the equivalent 5-Series before deciding on a Citroen C6. I'm not sure why the Audi has so much praise for comfort when its ride/handling mix is so closely related to an Amish cart. It's unforgiving down potholed streets and tends to bounce occupants everywhere except recently resurfaced motorways. The new Mondeo feels far better, though the A4 due in 2008 supposedly has suspension improvements introduced on the RS4. Only then will I put my bottom back in an Audi!
Having spent the last decade driving BMWs and Mercedes, the C6 has been an eye-opener. It's criticised for being 'wallowing' and for poor fit and finish, but while a few components are borrowed from lesser models, the suspension damping changes to suit the road and the quality of plastics matches any modern BMW. The only complaint is that the ride suffers over broken tarmac at low speeds, a long-standing trait of Citroens, and the navigation system is an antique. Otherwise, a first class express.
