| The Ram is classed as a commercial vehicle |
 |
The Ram 1500 Laramie, however, could conceivably make sense. At £30,500 it's not cheap. But - and you can hear the teeth grinding at the Inland Revenue at this flagrant mockery of the rules - the four-door Ram is classed as a commercial, so is VAT-reclaimable if you can make a business case.
That drops the price to £26,000, which is just £5k more than the new breed of luxo-pick-ups such as the top-spec Nissan Navara Aventura and Mitsubishi L200 Elegance.

| It will definitely attact attention |
 |
But for sheer presence, the Ram is head, shoulders and ten-gallon hat above them all and pretty much any SUV you care to mention. Motorists and pedestrians alike become mesmerised by that towering big-rig grille and keep on staring as the 5.8-metre behemoth burbles past. Granted, you might just slip by if you chose blue, black or silver instead, but nothing can save you from the angry sideways flash of the CO2-conscious citizen.
