| White stripes thankfully optional |

It's been a long time coming, but the latest fast Fiesta is finally with us. Indeed, the current Fiesta range was launched back in '02 and has been feeling decidedly incomplete without a pocket rocket to round it off, a la the near iconic XR2i.
The fastest Fiesta ST 150 - 'ST' stands for Sports Technologies, don't ya know - uses a 2.0-litre 150bhp 16-valve four-cylinder to generate a top speed of 129mph and a sprint from 0-60mph in 7.9secs. Maximum torque is 140lb ft and is developed at a relatively high 4500rpm. There's a sweet-shifting, close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with a set of quite gnarly 17-inch alloy wheels.

| 17" alloys and rear spoiler give ST butch looks |

Visually, the Fiesta ST strikes a brilliant balance - the message is 'I'm a bit sporty, me, but I'm not some council estate yob.' It's true, the ST looks really butch with its wheelarches filled to overflowing, a wide, glowering front grille, lowered ride height and rear roof spoiler. And while it is a discreet-looking thing, you can fix that by opting for the optional stripes package. For £200, you can have the full monty, stripewise, which includes side stripes as well as a set that run the length of the car up top. Personally, I'd give the sidies a miss, but a blue Fiesta ST with white stripes down the middle looks sweet enough that I'd happily put up with the ridicule. Of which there would be plenty.
