Crowd pleaserAn MPV is a useful alternative to an estate car, offering a versatile seating plan in no more road space than a conventional car. Smaller MPVs such as the Renault Mégane Scenic are very popular, and Toyota's Picnic is an unusual interpretation of the idea which has three rows of two seats in the pricier GLS model. The cheaper GS has seven seats, with an extra passenger squeezed into the middle row. Engines are a 2.0-litre, 16-valve petrol unit or a 2.2-litre turbodiesel.
