| Road Test: Toyota Corolla (2002-) |
| Small Family |

| SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING: |
Surprisingly, the Corolla does not have head-level airbags that are appearing in some cars in this class - Toyota claims extensive padding about the pillars and roof instead, although this didn't seem much in evidence. It does have twin front airbags (surprisingly, the passenger's is not dual-stage) and front sidebags as standard. Despite these lacks, the Corolla gained four stars in the NCAP crash tests. Also standard are ABS anti-lock brakes and electronic brake-force distribution. Thief-proofing includes double-locking, a transponder immobiliser and security etched glass as standard, while a remote alarm with perimeter and interior penetration sensing is an option.
