| RELIABILITY AND QUALITY RATING: |
 |
There's never been much wrong with Corolla reliability, but its fittings and finish have always appeared unsophisticated, if robust. This time Toyota has aimed for quality you can see and touch too, and it has largely succeeded. The facia feels very substantial, it's pleasingly textured, and is lifted on some models - although not the biggest sellers, sadly - by an attractive, patterned, mock-aluminium finish on the centre console and door trims. As ever, the fit of the body panels is excellent, but this time they have a more solid feel. The paint of some of the early cars was not as smooth as it might be though.
