  • Road Test: Seat Arosa (2001-)
    City Cars
    Seat Arosa (01-)
    PERFORMANCE RATING:

Performance? Not really a word you'd associate with the base 1.0-litre model, as it has just 50 bhp. It is at least quiet, however. The 1.4S would be a better bet if it didn't come only with an automatic gearbox. The 100 bhp 1.4 16V is pretty sparky, but the best engine is the 1.4 TDi. With 75 bhp, the characterful, three-cylinder turbo-diesel has plenty of power, packs ample torque (pulling power) and is very refined. Best of all, it returns more than 60 mpg.
