  • Road Test: Seat Arosa (2001-)
    City Cars
    Seat Arosa (01-)
    RUNNING COSTS RATING:

According to many cost calculators, the Arosa is one of the very best value cars in the UK. Because of its asking price, which is lower than that of the equivalent VW Lupo, and also because it retains its value better than many Far-Eastern offerings, depreciation costs aren't harsh. Good fuel economy, low insurance costs and reasonable servicing costs complete a happy picture. If there's a downside, it's that you're unlikely to be able to find a Seat dealer right on your doorstep. The Arosa has never sold in huge quantities, and Seat dealers aren't all that easy to come across, so getting hold of a used Arosa may not be quite as simple as you'd think. That said, find a late-plate used example, in a sensible, non-dating colour, and you'll have a great value used car that should still be worth a few bob a couple of years down the line. Five stars, no question. These things are not solely objective, so the Arosa's blend of subjective qualities, plus its low purchase and running costs, makes it one of the very best value cars in Britain.
