The 2004 restyle/tart-up hasn't really done the 45 any favours; the Kia-alike boot of the saloon is particularly misconceived. The MG ZS (tested separately) looks much more modern. That said, modernity isn't a priority for most 45 buyers: it remains a firm favourite amongst middle-aged and older Middle Englanders, the patriotic and the deeply conservative. British Racing Green paint seems to be compulsory.
