| COMFORT AND EQUIPMENT RATING: |
 |
The supple ride is smooth and relaxing, and air conditioning is fitted on all except the most basic models. Quiet and reasonably refined, a 45 is a low-stress experience, though the driving position won't suit everyone. Interior space is a letdown for a family saloon or fleet car and the rear is cramped for a car this long (14ft 9in). Front-seat occupants should be happy enough, and the boot is quite generous. An RDS-equipped radio/cassette is standard throughout the range. The quality's more than adequate, though it lacks real depth. A CD player is optional on base models and standard on iL variants and above.

Introduction Rover's 45 saloon/hatchback is comfortable and pleasant to drive, but it's not the roomiest car... |
