  • Road Test: Rover 25 (2000-2005)
    Superminis
    Rover 25 (00- )
    SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING:

The 25 scored three stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, which was pretty creditable at the time and still no worse than many newer (Far Eastern) rivals. It's stiffer and stronger than the old 200, and better-equipped, though only a driver's airbag is standard-fit on all models. Passenger airbags are optional on most but no chance of side, curtain, head or window airbags. ABS anti-lock brakes - an essential safety feature - are standard-fit only on the top-spec models, optional on all the others, and there are no other advanced electronic stability/traction control aids, nor clever crash-sensing seatbelt pretensioners, active head restraints and other such measures. All rather old-tech. Security is good, however, with remote central locking on most models, and the 25 is not known to be a thieves' target.
