  • Road Test: Renault Laguna (2001-2005)
Large Family by: Matthew Prior / Farah AlKhalisi
    Renault Laguna (01- )
    DRIVING RATING:

Renault set out to make the Laguna's cabin light and airy, with a large glass area; one benefit is that visibility from the Laguna is fine, except to the rear which is a little restricted by the high bootlid line. Parking radar is available as an option. Most controls are positive and light, which makes the Laguna easy to pilot. With its quiet noise levels and soft ride, driving a Laguna on a motorway journey can be quite soporific. Ford's Mondeo, the Honda Accord and the surprisingly competitively priced Alfa Romeo 156 offer more driving kicks, but the Laguna is a better motorway car than any of the above, so it's horses for courses. If you appreciate a tight, responsive driving experience, then a Laguna may not be for you. If you want something easy to drive whether down A-road or motorway, the Laguna - with its easy controls and compliant ride - might be a more preferable car.
