    RELIABILITY AND QUALITY RATING:

Having become so used to Porsches having the solidity of a granite cliff-face, it was a surprise and disappointment to drive one that both rattled and squeaked. Two other cars tested on the launch showed no sign of such issues, but another that we just followed had rather wobbly exhaust pipes.

These, of course, were early cars: however, if these slips were indicative of the quality of cars reaching customers when sales start on November 26th, that would be of considerable concern. Porsche has built its reputation every bit as much on its construction standards as the cars’ dynamic prowess and this must not be allowed to slip.

In all other areas – such as paintwork, the quality of the leather and panel fit inside and out – the Cayman S matched Porsche’s usual exemplary standards.
