    RUNNING COSTS RATING:

Capable of returning 26.6mpg on the combined cycle, a gently driven Cayman S should not flay your wallet every time you fill its 64-litre fuel tank. Neither should service costs: while Porsche dealers are not cheap, you should only have to visit one every 18,000 miles.

It’s too early to comment definitively on Cayman S residuals, but so long as you’re not silly with the colour, and fit certain essential extras like navigation and leather, we can see no reason why the Cayman should not cling to its residuals.

Indeed, because the Cayman will be rarest of all Porsche models – with around 10,000 being made per year, compared to 18,000 Boxsters, 27,000 911s and 43,000 Cayennes – its relative exclusivity may shore up its value further still.
