  • Road Test: Porsche 911 (2002-2004)
    Exotic Sports by: John Simister
    Porsche 911 (02- )
    RUNNING COSTS RATING:

In supercar terms, the 911 is cheap to run because servicing is simple and infrequent. Residual values stay high, too. Fuel consumption is lower than the previous version's, and frugal for the performance on tap at an average 25 mpg. Group 20 insurance will be expensive, however. A used 911 is likely to be much like a new one, except faster because it will have loosened up. Provided it has been properly serviced and maintained, and hasn't had a shady past, a 911 should be a sound and risk-free buy, thanks to its bulletproof build quality. For a beautifully built, sensationally fast, well equipped sports car, the 911 is good value. Knowing that the residual value will stay high helps ease the financial pain.
