Gearchange is fast but loose, clutch and brakes are smooth and progressive, steering is light but precise, controls (stereo excepted) are well laid out. The multi-adjustable driving position suits all, and many versions now have automatic windscreen wipers activated by a rain sensor. Less than it was since the launch of Ford's latest Mondeo - but still well up there. The match of taut responses to suspension suppleness is the key, making for a flowing drive yet one which is under precise control from the quick, responsive steering.
