Peugeot's Sésame concept, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show a few years ago, caused such a reaction that Peugeot has decided to release a production version of the car, called the 1007, or in Peugeot parlance, one thousand and seven, rather than one double-o seven.
Its most notable feature, and one that makes it unique, are its doors. There are just the two of them, but they're extremely large, permitting easier access to the cabin. And, because they're big and therefore heavy, they slide electrically rather than manually - via a system similar to that on the rear doors of Peugeot's 807 MPV.
The 1007 is a four-seater of peculiar dimensions. It's shorter in length than a 206 (a supermini), but taller than the 307 (one of the taller small family cars). Peugeot considers the 1007's rivals to be roomy small cars like the Honda Jazz or Vauxhall Meriva. Certainly, the 1007's prices approach the levels of those cars, although Peugeot claims that its car is better equipped, like for like.
