  • Road Test: Peugeot 1007 (2005-)

    IMAGE RATING:

Small Peugeots have always had a strong image, and recent models have also usually had well-proportioned, feline looks. The 1007 also has a degree of cat-like cuteness on its side, disguising its van-like shape better than cars like the Suzuki Wagon R or Hyundai Atoz, while those electric sliding doors make it unique too.

Also giving the car some extra personality is its 'Caméléo' changeable interior trim. Customers get a standard trim colour, and a spare set of 18 interchangeable interior parts in the colour of their choice, comprising two door and two rear storage box covers, two dashboard mats, four air-vent surrounds and eight seat covers. Additional Caméléo sets (derived from Chameleon, see), can be bought for £185.

In terms of target audience, Peugeot says that its forthcoming 107 city car targets the 18-25 year olds, whereas the 206 is aimed at 25-35 year olds, therefore leaving a gap in the market for slightly older buyers, 35+, often with young children, and that's where it's pitching the 1007.
