  • Road Test: Nissan Murano (2005-)

Murano is flash and brash - not for the shy
    IMAGE RATING:

Not for the shy, retiring or conservative: designed at Nissan's Californian studio, the Murano is flash, brash and clearly aimed at the American market. It translates well to Europe, though, as its lines are simple and it's not over-adorned. It's distinctively Japanese and recognisably a Nissan, with headlights similar to those of the 350Z, a tail end reminiscent of the Micra and Primera, and a bright chrome grille like that of the recent Tone concept car. All great details if you buy into the whole off-roader-as-fashion-and-lifestyle-accessory thing, but there are signs of a growing backlash against unnecessary urban 4x4s, and the Murano epitomises everything the anti-SUV brigade hate.
