It's heavier than the Almera, and is hindered by all of its engines, which are unchanged. Firstly, the 1.8-litre is too weak, proving gutless as speeds rise, particularly if it's fully-loaded. So the 2.0-litre is better? You'd think so - and it would be, were it not saddled with a CVT automatic-only gearbox. It shifts smoothly enough, but hinders performance and economy - it's odd that Nissan doesn't provide a manual too, like competitors. Then there's the diesel, which looks powerful on paper, but proves little faster than the 1.8-litre on the road, and is notably noisier. It is economical though.
