The new S-Class seems to be following its predecessors in the solidity stakes. Build quality is almost unimpeachable, although lesser models have surprisingly plasticky interiors. The petrol engines are good for large mileages, but the S320 CDI diesel should be capable of stratospheric distances if previous oil-burning Mercs are anything to go by.
