The previous-generation S-Class was undoubtedly over-large and politically incorrect. This model has a softer, more organic look, albeit underwritten by a plutocratic opulence. Neither the ageing BMW 7-Series nor the Lexus LS430 come anywhere close. You'd need a Bentley, or a plate of Ferrero Rocher, to make a bigger splash at the ambassador's reception.
