| COMFORT AND EQUIPMENT RATING: |
 |
Air-springing gives the S-Class a super-smooth ride, and a reasonable number of comfort toys come as standard - unlike in previous generations of the S-Class - including climate control, electric seats and cruise control. More expensive models get more impressive bits of kit, but the real jaw-droppers are reserved for the options list, where you'll find almost any luxury you can imagine, and some you can't: fan-cooled, body-massaging seats, Linguatronic voice command for the car phone and even self-closing doors. Despite shrinking externally, this S-Class is bigger inside than its predecessor. Up front, space is outstanding, the passenger seat adjusting far enough back that you're legs don't touch the bulkhead. Rear space is reasonably good in the standard car, although the long-wheelbase Limousine allows plutocrats to stretch their legs in the back, too. The basic stereo is adequate, but in-car entertainment is one of the richest areas of the options list. Choose between CD multi-changer, a BOSE speaker upgrade, COMAND combined stereo and navigation system or even a TV receiver.
