    Mazda 6
    by Paul Kelly 11.02.03

I have just test-driven a 6 in diesel form (2.0 TS hatch). I am afraid I cannot agree with many articles I have read praising this car. I found the car very nice-looking but deep-down cheap-looking. The air vents reminded me of a 1980's Datsun, it felt very tinny inside. I couldn't believe that they do not offer a black interior in the TS spec only light grey no good for a kid mobile! The trip computer was in litres drove me mad. It was nice to drive but not worth the £15,700 price tag, and not quite the solid quality feel as the Mondeo and Vectra. I liked the seat folding mechanism in the boot just one pull of a handle and the seats drop flush nice touch. I found second gear notchy and the diesel engine a little bit flat. I am afraid I will be looking at the Mondeo in TDCI form.
