  • Road Test: Lotus Exige (2004-)

    RUNNING COSTS RATING:

Insurance will be the biggie: this is a car with supercar performance, after all. Depreciation is likely to be very low, though - good S1 Exiges still fetch up to £25,000. And other running costs aren't too bad. Because it's a light car, fuel economy is over 30mpg and, even with track use, wear and tear shouldn't be too harsh. The Yokohama tyres with their hand-cut look have been specifically developed for the Exige but tyres of this type, in our experience, aren't prohibitively expensive. The engine should be bombproof, too.
