    Honda Accord
    by Bris Goodey. 02.01.02

I'm a fairly typical company car driver I think; I have had my Accord for 2 years and covered 73,000 miles. A 2-litre 5-door automatic, the car has done everything I wanted it to do well. The handling and power are fine, all the bits have stayed doing what they are supposed to do, with no rattles and nothing falling off. A bit heavy on the juice - about 30 mpg - but generally that's all that has been wrong with it.
The problem now is that next year the tax rules change, and this car will cost me another £1200. Its CO2 emissions are high and I lose the 18,000 mile break. What do I go for next, please? I like the Honda: I like its reliability and general build quality, and it has most of the little extras that make a relaxing driving experience - cruise control, air conditioning, power mirrors, a good stereo system etc. A Rover 75 with these 'bits' would cost about £4,000 more than the Honda; the last Vauxhall I had I watched fall to pieces and the Ford is expensive and unreliable.
