  • Road Test: Ford Streetka (2003-)
    Convertibles by: Farah AlKhalisi
    Ford Streetka (03 - )
    DRIVING RATING:

All-round visibility is good, even with the roof up, and the seating position is higher and more commanding than in sportier soft-tops. The driver's seat is height-adjustable (passenger seat height adjustment optional) and the mirrors are electric. All the controls are clear (well, there's not many of them), and the cabin well laid-out. The steering is direct and accurate - always a Ka strong point - and the handling safe and predictable. Don't expect a substitute/replacement for the Racing Puma, but despite the power shortfall, the Streetka is amusing (within its limits). The steering is direct and well-weighted, and the handling responsive, predictable and competent - you'd have to really over-cook it to come to any grief. There's a cheeky little burble from the exhaust when you lift off, although it's hardly a sporting growl, and it's more than entertaining enough for the average driver - fun, without frightening anybody.
