  • Road Test: Ford Ranger (2002-)

    PERFORMANCE RATING:

Of course, it's not going to nip away from traffic lights, but the torquey 108bhp diesel engine in the 4x4 version is certainly strong - it tows objects up to 2800kg (braked). The two-wheel drive models get an 83bhp engine. The Ranger is also quick enough to charge about on the roads, and is surprisingly competent on the motorway, where it doesn't feel too lumbering at all.
