    DRIVING RATING:

The sparsely furnished cabin is well laid out, and the seat adjustable enough to get a good driving position. As with most vehicles of this type, the great big pick-up bay at the back doesn't make parking easy, and it can be a bit cumbersome around town, although its turning circle is relatively tight. The dash-mounted parking brake can be awkward to engage, making smooth hill starts and manoeuvres difficult until you get used to it. Surprisingly amusing, for a vehicle of this type. The torquey engine pulls it along quite happily, the handling is direct and responsive enough to take it quite quickly round corners, and it generally feels well-planted to the road, stable and secure. The large tyres have plenty of grip, but beware taking tight fast corners unladen - the rear becomes very light, causing the rear wheels to lose traction. And of course, it can go most places off-road too, and will be an enjoyable mud-plugger.
