| SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING: |
 |
A big, tall, heavy vehicle with off-road-optimised suspension won't handle as well as a 'normal' car, nor have as much grip through corners, nor feel as stable over long distances - that's the law of physics. Also undeniable is the large, high frontage which is distinctly pedestrian-unfriendly. So although it has a brace of airbags as standard, and ABS brakes, and the extra bad-weather traction of a 4x4 (note, not overall grip), it's still arguably not as safe as a Focus. Size isn't everything. Security isn't bad, with remotely-controlled locking and security devices, and a Ford unique-fit radio that isn't likely to be nicked. The huge boot has a tonneau for covering valuables, though to be honest, this isn't likely to be a joyrider or thief's prime target in the first place.
