Surely no-one is naïve enough to buy one of these hulking monsters and expect lots of performance? Sure enough, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder model (using a Mondeo engine) performs with about as much vigour as a Vauxhall Corsa diesel; 0-60mph takes 13.5 seconds, and though it does charge past 'the ton', it stops soon after at 103mph. As you'd expect, then, the 3.0-litre V6 is better, but as it's saddled with an auto-only gearbox, the degree of superiority is not huge. 0-60mph takes 10.5 seconds (we're into 1.4-litre Corsa territory here), while top speed is a reasonable 118mph. In use, the 2.0-litre is a bit harsh at high revs, but meaty in normal use, while the V6 is smooth but perhaps not as creamy as you'd expect.
