No-one outside Ford knows if the GT will be a reliable long-term proposition, but it should be - it has to pass the same global standard for durability as any other Ford. The 500bhp engine is based on proven Ford technology and is not that stressed given its 5.4-litre size and supercharger. The gearbox is a brand new design by British company Ricardo which also designed the gearbox that took Audi to three consecutive wins at Le Mans from 2000-2002, so there should be no trouble there.
Of greater concern is the quality of the interior which, frankly, would look a bit cheap in a car costing a quarter of the price. The instruments, switchgear and most details just look unbecoming of such a car.
