A gold 1.6-litre saloon on the streets of Bournemouth won't rate higher than one-star, while an ST170 or an RS hot hatch (reviewed separately) will reach towards the five-star rating. On the whole, however, the blue-oval badge is not one of the most inspiring and the Focus is the one of the commonest cars on the road, so it's not something you'd pick if you wanted to stand-out from the crowd.
